The holy festival of Eid al-Adha or the “Festival of Sacrifice” is just upon us. This festival is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. Also known as the Greater Eid or Qurban Bayarami, this festival marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage.

This is the second Islamic festival of the year following Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, also known as the holy month of fasting. Eid al-Adha is celebrated to honor the willingness of Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice everything for Allah and the sacrifice of the lamb.

So, on the day of Eid al-Adha, Muslims worldwide sacrifice a goat in the way of Allah. Then, this sacrificed animal is shared with the needy or poor; family, and friends.
