A traditional and authentic Gujarati snack recipe made with fenugreek leaves, chickpea flour, chili-garlic paste, and some piquant spices. Additionally, these bhajiya are easy and simple to make as you will need only a handful of ingredients. 

How to Make Methi Bhajiya? 

You don’t need loads of ingredients or don’t even need to follow hard recipes. With these simple steps, you will be able to fry the most tender and delicious methi gota at home with minimal effort. 

In this recipe, you will only need 5 to 6 ingredients. Mix them in a bowl and fry them until golden brown and your methi bhajiya are ready. Adding red chili powder will change the color of your bhajiya and will make them slightly red in color. 

So, here we have added chili-garlic paste as it will infuse the gota with the spiciness you need and prevent color change. Let’s see how you can make the perfect methi gota at home easily.

Ingredients 

  • 100gms Methi (Fenugreek leaves)
  • ½ cup besan (Gram flour)
  • Salt, to taste 
  • ½ tablespoon chili-garlic paste 
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • Water, as required 
  • 2 tablespoons warm oil
  • Oil, for frying

For Garnishing 

  • Fried chili 
  • Kadhi 

Method to Prepare 

  • Take a big bowl.
    • Add besan, salt, chili-garlic paste, and sugar.
    • Then, add methi (fenugreek leaves).
    • Mix everything well.
  • Meanwhile, pour oil into a frying pan and heat it over medium flame.
  • Now, gradually add water to the bowl as required.
    • Remember, you need to make a paste and not batter for this bhajiya.
    • Half or a little more than half a cup of water is enough.
    • Mix well while adding water.
  • Now, add one tablespoon of lukewarm oil into the paste and mix again.
    • Then, add baking soda.
    • Add one tablespoon of lukewarm oil.
    • Mix everything carefully.
  • Drop the paste into hot oil forming balls.
    • Stir them to cook evenly.
    • Fry bhajiya until slightly golden brown.
    • Transfer the bhajiya to a paper napkin-lined plate to drain off excess oil.
  • Serve them with fried chili and enjoy!
