  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • Half teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala
  • Half teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 bayleaf
  • One small cinnamon stick
  • 1 tablespoon of kasuri methi
  • Salt as per the taste

Method to Prepare:

For marination:

  • Take a large bowl and add yogurt and chickpea flour in it. Now, you have to whisk these ingredients until no lumps are found
  • After this, add red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix everything well.
  • Now, add cubed paneer into this mixture and let these pieces coated evenly with the mixture.
  • Next, cover the bowl and keep it in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes.

For gravy:

  • Take a pan and heat 2 tablespoons of oil over a medium flame.
  • Then, add dried red chilies and onion in it. Let them sauté for one minute and add cashews while stirring them.
  • After this, add garlic cloves and ginger, stir them. Once they are done, add roughly chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and some salt.
  • Let all ingredients cook for 2-3 minutes or until chopped tomatoes are mushy. Meanwhile, if you notice that spices are sticking to the bottom of a pan, you can add a little water in it.
  • Once it is cooked properly, keep it aside to cool. Now, blend these ingredients in a mixer to make a smooth paste/curry.
  • Now, take the same pan and heat 4-5 tablespoons of oil in it. Once it is heated, you have to add the cubes of marinated paneer. Make sure to flip them on all sides and make sure that they don’t stick to the pan. If it is so, you can add more oil in the pan to avoid sticking.
  • Once all paneer cubes are done well, transfer them on a plate.
  • Again, you have to add one tablespoon of oil in the same pan. Then, add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, bayleaf and cinnamon stick and cook them for a few seconds in the hot oil.
  • Now, add the remaining marinated mixture and cook it well. Also, make sure to stir the mixture continuously to avoid yogurt from splitting.
  • Once it is cooked thoroughly, add the masala mixture that you had prepared in the mixer. Also, add a little water and cook it on a low flame.
  • When you see that oil is getting separated from the mixture, it means it is done. You can check the salt quantity you want and if it is less, you can add it as per the taste.
  • In the last, add cooked paneer cubes and one teaspoon of crushed kasuri methi. And Mix them well with the mixture
  • You can serve this delicious paneer tikka masala dhaba style with jeera rice, parantha, or naan.
