Ingredients 

For Remoulade Sauce 

  • ½ lemon
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1-2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • One teaspoon hot sauce, adjust to taste
  • Two tablespoons relish
  • One green onion finely chopped
  • One teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper, to taste

For Sandwich 

  • 1 ½ Pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ¼ cup cornmeal
  • Two teaspoons garlic Powder
  • Two teaspoons onion Powder
  • ½-1 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • One teaspoon white or black pepper
  • One teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • One large egg
  • 3-4 Hoagie or French rolls
  • Two garlic cloves crushed
  • 2-3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups sliced cabbage or shredded lettuce
  • Two medium tomatoes sliced

Method to Prepare 

  • Take a large pan and pour vegetable oil. 
  • Now, take a large bowl and mix cornmeal, flour, garlic and onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper. 
  • Now, mix buttermilk and eggs. Keep it aside. 
  • Then, dip the shrimps into the buttermilk mixture and lightly dip them into the flour mixture. 
  • Now, carefully add those shrimps to the saucepan and fry them a few at a time. 
  • Fry them until they are golden and crispy, for about 5 minutes. Frying time will depend on the size, though. 
  • Now, remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel to soak up excess oil and ensure crispness. Do this process with remaining shrimps as well. 
  • To make the remoulade sauce, combine all the sauce ingredients in a large bowl and set it aside.
