Ingredients 

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp urad dal
  • ½ tsp jeera/cumin
  • few curry leaves
  • Ten cashew / Kaju (whole)
  • 1-inch ginger (finely chopped)
  • Two chilies (slit)
  • ½ onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ carrot (finely chopped)
  • Five beans (finely chopped)
  • ¼ capsicum (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp peas / matar
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp coriander (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp coconut (grated)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Method to Prepare 

  • First, take a large Kadai and heat one tablespoon of oil. 
  • Splutter 1 teaspoon of mustard, ½ teaspoon of urad dal, jeera, and a few curry leaves with ten cashews.
  • Saute them until the cashews are golden brown. 
  • Once the color is changed, add 1-inch ginger and ½ cinnamon and saute well. 
  • Then, add ½ carrot, chopped beans, ¼ capsicum, two tablespoons of peas, ½ turmeric, and finally, ½ teaspoon of salt. 
  • Finally, pour two tablespoons of water, cover the Kadai, and let it simmer for around 5 minutes. 
  • Uncover the lid and add another cup of water, and boil it. If you are using instant oats, add ¼ cup instead of one cup of water. 
  • Once the water comes to a boil, add the roasted oats and mix it well. 
  • Mix the oats until they absorb all the water. 
  • Now, once again, cover the Kadai and let it simmer for another 5 minutes. 
  • Sprinkle ¼ teaspoon of salt, two tablespoons of coriander, and squeeze one lemon. 
  • Give it a final mix and serve it hot to enjoy!
