For the dough:

  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 4 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of water

For the onion-bel pepper mix:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ½ pickled red bell pepper, chopped

Preparing the meat:

  • 10 ounces of minced meat
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 leaves of fresh mint

For the yogurt mix:

  • 1 ¼ cup of yogurt
  • 5 teaspoons of fresh parsley, chopped
  • lime juice
  • pepper
  • fresh parsley for garnishing

Method to Prepare 

  • First, we will make the dough. For that, take a small bowl and add dry yeast, milk, and sugar. 
  • Give them a good mix and keep it aside. 
  • Take a mixing bowl and strain the flour. Then, add salt and the yeast mixture. 
  • Mix everything until dough is formed. Pour water gradually while mixing the ingredients. 
  • Once the dough is formed, let it sit aside for half an hour to rise. 
  • Meanwhile, prepare the onion-bell pepper mix. Heat a skillet over a low flame and vegetable oil. 
  • Then, add onion and pickled red bell pepper to the heated skillet and cook them until tender. 
  • Keep it aside and prepare the meat. 
  • Take a large bowl and minced meat, tomato sauce, paprika, curry powder, chili flakes, pepper, salt, and mint. Combine them together.
  • Add the cooked onion and bell pepper mixture into the chicken mixture. Combine everything thoroughly. 
  • Now, take your dough and spread some flour on the work surface. Knead the dough a bit and divide it into five equal parts. 
  • Take each dough, press it with your hand to flatten it, and roll it out with a rolling pin. 
  • Then, spread the minced meat mixture on the flattened dough. 
  • Put them on the baking sheet and slide the baking sheet into the oven. Bake them for half an hour at 360⁰F.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the yogurt mix. Add all the ingredients listed below the yogurt mix section to a bowl and mix thoroughly. 
  • Serve each lahmajoun with the yogurt mix and enjoy!
