Ingredients:
- 4 cups of low-fat milk
- 4 tablespoons of low-fat plain yogurt
Method to Prepare:
- Take a large saucepan and heat milk in it on a medium flame. Make sure to stir the milk frequently until it starts steaming or bubbling.
- After this, pour this hot milk into the heat-safe container, it should be such that it can easily contain 5-8 cups.
- Let it keep aside and stir it frequently to cool the milk until 110 degrees F.
- Take half a cup of milk from this container in a small bowl and add yogurt into it. Mix both ingredients well and pour it back into the milk container.
- Cover the container and you can wrap a cloth around the container to keep it warm. Then, place this container in a warm place until you get thick yogurt. It may take around 8 to 12 hours.
- Once the yogurt is prepared, keep it in the refrigerator for around 2 hours. You will notice that yogurt has turned thicker in the refrigerator.
- Next, you have to strain the yogurt to remove the whey from it. For this, take 2 layers of cheesecloth and place it on the large bowl. Pour the yogurt in batches onto the cheesecloth; it will remove the liquid from the yogurt.
- Then, cover it and refrigerate for another 4 hours until the whey is drained and you get the thick yogurt.
