Ingredients 

  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup glutinous/sticky rice
  • ½ cup sugar – add more if needed
  • 1can evaporated milk

Method to Prepare 

  • Take a pot and pour 3 cups of water into it. Bring the water to a boil over a high flame. 
  • Then, add the glutinous rice and cook it for around 5 minutes, stirring every now and then. 
  • Meanwhile, dissolve cocoa powder in one cup of warm water. Ensure that there are no lumps in the cocoa mixture. 
  • Pour this cocoa mixture into the pot of rice and keep cooking it until it gets thick. 
  • Decrease the heat to medium-low and add sugar. 
  • Stir the mixture occasionally to avoid the rice from sticking at the bottom of the pot. 
  • You can pour water into the rice if the mixture gets too thick and the rice is not yet done. 
  • Once the rice is done and desired consistency is achieved, remove the rice from the flame. 
  • Serve the champorado in a bowl and drizzle evaporated milk on top and enjoy!
